Contribute to DOHAC’s review of after hours primary care policies and programs

In late 2023 the Department of Health and Aged Care (DOHAC) commenced a review of after-hours primary care policies and programs. The review builds on a range of previous reviews undertaken between 2016 and 2020 and is taking place in parallel to and in close association with a separate review of general practice incentive programs, which is concurrently taking place, and in awareness of other contemporary reviews and reform activities.

Following a period of data and evidence analysis, the review is now in its consultation phase, and DOHAC has released a discussion paper on Consultation Hub, attached. Primary healthcare providers and Primary Health Networks are being encouraged to participate in this consultation to help inform DOHAC’s understanding of issues affecting demand and supply of after-hours primary care services our regions.

MPHN has decided to put forward a response to the review, and we are inviting you to contribute to MPHNs submission by completing this survey. In addition to feedback provided through this survey we will include previous information provided through local consultations regarding after hours services. Responses to this survey are required by 17 April 2024. Alternatively, you may like to provide your thoughts directly to MPHN’s Senior Advisor Melissa Neal by emailing melissa.neal@mphn.org.au. All questions about this opportunity should also be directed to Melissa.

More about the consultation here and other ways to contribute if you would like to do so individually.

Thank you for your time to complete this survey.
